Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal DevOps Engineer to assist with the design, configuration, and maintenance of infrastructure and cloud resources for the Sentinel program. The role involves creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, automating software testing and deployment, monitoring and troubleshooting infrastructure, and remediating security findings. The engineer will also mentor staff in DevOps concepts and identify automation opportunities.

What you'd actually do

  1. Assist with the design of, as well as configure and maintain, infrastructure and/or cloud resources necessary to reliably host, run, and support applications through all phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC).
  2. Create and maintain continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  3. Write scripts and configurations to automate software testing, deployment, and maintenance in a manner consistent with software engineering best practices
  4. Proactively monitor build and deployment pipelines and infrastructure, apply patches, troubleshoot issues, and resolve errors.
  5. Automate infrastructure and/or cloud resource deployments and configuration using infrastructure-as-code tools.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field of study or 4 additional years of relevant experience
  • US citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance
  • Willing to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP)
  • Experience with build tools (i.e., Maven, Ant, GNU make) and/or continuous integration environments (i.e., Jenkins, GitLab, Bamboo) and/or repositories (i.e. Nexus, JFROG) in a Linux environment.
  • 3 years experience with Jira/Confluence in an Agile environment.
  • 5 years experience with Microsoft and Linux Red Hat operating system.
  • 5 years experience with scripting languages (i.e. PERL, Python, Bash, YAML)
  • 3 years experience with Kubernetes implementation and Day 2 Operations in a CI/CD environment.
  • 3 years experience with VMware Cloud Foundation, Terraform, vCenter, vSphere, or similar Virtual Provisioning.
  • 3 year experience with container technologies

Nice to have

  • Automation/configuration management using either Ansible, Chef or equivalent.
  • Source code configuration management tools (i.e git).
  • HashiCorp Packer and Vault.
  • Container hardening and SBOM
  • IAT II certification (e.g. Security + CE) or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and logical reasoning skills with the ability to solve issues.
