Mechanical Engineer role supporting the Sentinel Program's Command Systems Hardware Design Integration team. Responsibilities include applying ASME standards, designing integrated assemblies, performing trade studies, and creating 3D models using Siemens NX and PLM tools. Requires a Secret security clearance and experience with CAD modeling and engineering software.

What you'd actually do

  1. Apply ASME standard processes and procedures to identify, design, and procure electrical and mechanical hardware.
  2. Support design of integrated assemblies in accordance with decomposed requirements, compliance documents, and architecture diagrams in order to support the Sentinel critical design review campaign.
  3. Assist in trade studies, Analysis of Alternatives, and create design artifacts to include 3-dimensional models and product definition packages which will be documented and released using Siemens- based Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and modeling (NX) tools.
  4. Operate in and capture inputs from a multi-disciplinary engineering environment consisting of Systems, Software, Design, Compliance, and Hardware engineers.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelors in Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience (Principal) or 8+ years (Sr. Principal)
  • Active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval
  • Experience performing CAD modeling with design tools such as Siemens NX or similar
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Word, Excel, Power Point, and Engineering - Scheduling tools and applications.
  • Experience resolving issues and providing technical support
  • Capable of working with minimal direction and in team environments.

Nice to have

  • Experience deriving hardware-level requirements from interface, compliance, and performance requirements
  • Experience designing and generating control drawings and assemblies of systems using commercially-sourced hardware components
  • Experience developing hardware design materials in support of program design reviews
  • Experience conducting design reviews as the design author
  • Understanding of structural analysis concerns
  • Teamcenter CPLM experience
  • Experience using the electrical workbench within NX or similar CAD software for cable routing purposes
