Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to support the Sentinel program in Roy, UT. This role involves technical leadership for the Logistics System Capability Thread, focusing on end-to-end understanding, technical baseline development, stakeholder coordination, and oversight of systems engineering products including requirements, architecture, verification, and integration/test planning. The position requires a Secret clearance and experience with ICBM or complex aerospace/defense systems.

What you'd actually do

  1. Become a subject matter expert (SME) and technical leader with end-to-end / top-to-bottom understanding for the successful implementation of their assigned thread(s) for the Sentinel Program.
  2. Partner with the program's SEIT leadership and Office of Chief Engineering (OCE) to ensure their assigned threads technical baseline is developed with high quality.
  3. Brief program leadership, customers, and stakeholders on their assigned threads at both program and technical reviews.
  4. Establish an effective system of working group / coordination sessions with stakeholders across the development community to ensure effective horizontal and vertical thread integration.
  5. Develop and maintain strong relationships across program, customers, and stakeholder communities.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience; 3 years of experience with a Masters’ degree in STEM; or 1 year of experience with a PhD.
  • US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance
  • 2 years of experience in ICBM (MMIII or Sentinel) OR complex aerospace/defense systems
  • 2 years of experience in team environments with leadership responsibilities
  • 1 year of experience creating, updating, and maintaining system performance documentation

Nice to have

  • Large scale / complex system development experience across multiple phases of a development program: preliminary design, detailed design, integration and test, verification and sell off, transition to production.
  • Experience with implementing and using model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools, practices, and methods.
  • Strong understanding and broad application of complex engineering systems (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.) for the development of complex systems of systems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities.
