Principal Systems Safety Engineer for the Sentinel (GBSD) program, focusing on systems engineering activities including requirements definition, functional decomposition, interface definition, verification & validation, and requirements traceability. The role involves developing and reviewing design artifacts for System Safety analyses to mature weapons system design for safety and support flight test and flight worthiness of complex systems. Requires a Secret Clearance and experience with MIL-STD-882E or similar processes.

What you'd actually do

  1. Collaborate with program IPT counterparts to develop supporting systems engineering and design artifacts
  2. Work with both technical teams and stakeholders to develop and mature architecture content of large programs design
  3. Help develop and incorporate the appropriate requirements for the system and ensure that they are properly represented in the model
  4. Contribute to system requirements development, management, and analysis
  5. Develop unifying model techniques, procedures, and processes (for model development, tool integration, and team integration)

Skills

Required

  • US Citizen with active U.S. Government Secret Clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval
  • Experience using MIL-STD-882E or similar processes for hardware and /or software design development
  • 1 years’ experience with C/C++, Java, object-oriented design, or similar experience
  • Experience in software safety process (MIL-STD-882E, AOP 51, 91-710, JSSSEH)
  • Possess fundamental knowledge of system safety principles to develop safety documentation such as a System Safety Program Plan (SSPP), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), System/Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SHA/SSHA)
  • Familiarity with AGILE

Nice to have

  • 2+ years’ System Safety Engineering experience conducting comprehensive system safety analyses IAW MIL-STD-882E, including Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), System Hazard Analysis (SHA), and Operating & Support Hazard Analysis (O&SHA) to ensure compliance and mitigate operational risks
  • Execute developed processes in Engineering and Manufacturing Development Phase
  • Software development or coding experience
  • 2+ Experience using DO-178 for design development
  • Experience developing in an Agile environment
  • Experience with requirements tools such as DOORS, Cameo, Agile software tools, JIRA, and/or Confluence
  • Experience in Hardware/Software Integration
  • Scrum Master/ Product Owner
  • Software Safety - Experience with developing, reviewing, updating, and approving system safety artifacts and system safety requirements
  • Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience
  • Experience developing missile flight systems software
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) / Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certificate
  • Weapon System experience (Minuteman III or similar military or industry experience)
