Northrop Grumman is seeking a Staff DevOps Engineer to design, configure, and maintain infrastructure and cloud resources for applications throughout the SDLC. Responsibilities include creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, automating software testing and deployment, monitoring and troubleshooting pipelines and infrastructure, and automating infrastructure deployments using infrastructure-as-code tools. The role also involves remediating security findings, mentoring staff in DevOps concepts, identifying automation opportunities, and providing application support and troubleshooting. The engineer will also serve as a Product Owner as needed and provide 24x7 on-call support.

What you'd actually do

  1. Assist with the design of, as well as configure and maintain, infrastructure and/or cloud resources necessary to reliably host, run, and support applications through all phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC).
  2. Create and maintain continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  3. Write scripts and configurations to automate software testing, deployment, and maintenance in a manner consistent with software engineering best practices
  4. Proactively monitor build and deployment pipelines and infrastructure, apply patches, troubleshoot issues, and resolve errors.
  5. Automate infrastructure and/or cloud resource deployments and configuration using infrastructure-as-code tools.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 12 years of relevant experience; 10 Years with Masters; 8 Years with PhD; or 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • US Citizen with active Secret clearance
  • Ability to obtain Top Secret/SAP clearance
  • Ability to obtain SAP approval within 6 months of hire
  • 4 years experience with build tools (i.e., Maven, Ant, GNU make) and/or continuous integration environments (i.e., Jenkins, GitLab, Bamboo) and/or repositories (i.e. Nexus, JFROG).
  • 2 years experience with Jira/Confluence in an Agile environment.
  • Proficiency with Linux based software development tools.
  • 4 years experience of Microsoft and Linux Red Hat operating system.
  • 4 years experience with scripting languages (i.e. PERL, Python, Bash, YAML).
  • 4 years of DevOps experience with container technologies in support of building and implementing CI/CD pipelines
  • 4 years experience with container orchestration technologies (i.e. Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift)
  • Experience with Virtualization Technologies
  • IAT Level II certification (e.g. Security + CE) or ability to obtain within 1 month.

Nice to have

  • Experience as a Product Owner or other technical leadership position in an Agile environment.
  • Familiarity with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
  • Active DoD Secret clearance with a reinvestigation date occurring in the last 6 years.
  • Experience with automation/configuration management using either Ansible, Chef or equivalent.
  • Experience with source code configuration management tools (i.e git).
  • Experience with HashiCorp Packer and Vault.
