Systems Engineer/Principal Systems Engineer for the Sentinel Program's Command and Control (C2) Hardware Systems Engineering team, focusing on designing and documenting hardware architecture, components, interfaces, and performance. The role involves developing trade studies, analyses of alternatives, and design specifications, working with systems and hardware engineers using Agile methodologies, and resolving complex requirements challenges within a defense regulatory framework. Requires a Secret clearance and experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools like Cameo and requirements management tools like IBM Rational DOORS.

What you'd actually do

  1. As a hardware systems engineer, this position will help rigorously design and document the hardware architecture, components, interfaces, and performance of the C2 system.
  2. This position will develop hardware Trade Studies, Analyses of Alternatives, and Design Specifications to help finalize the C2 technical baseline leading up to the Sentinel Critical Design Review campaign.
  3. This position will work closely with a team of Systems Engineers and Hardware Engineers, applying Agile execution methodologies.
  4. This position will help resolve complex requirements challenges resulting from a many-tiered Specification Tree that must comply and is subject to several federal regulatory organizations within the defense base.
  5. The position will be responsible for coordinating with Engineering teams across the Command Systems Segment at all levels of the spec tree to identify and resolve driving requirements and architecture maturity down to the hardware product level.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM
  • DoD Secret clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering concepts and tools
  • Multi-disciplinary engineering development (Software, Hardware, Systems Engineering)
  • Analyzing MBSE diagrams using Cameo (SysML/DoDAF)
  • System Engineering (SE) process, including 'V' Model and experience across multiple levels of integration
  • Requirements analysis and specification development
  • IBM Rational DOORS to manage requirements (for Level 3)
  • Agile execution principles and tools (Scrum, Kanban, Jira) (for Level 3)
