This role is for a Systems Engineering Manager 2 at Northrop Grumman, supporting the Sentinel Program. The position is a dual-hat role, requiring both functional management (20% effort) and technical program responsibilities (80% effort). The functional management duties include assessing staffing needs, supporting recruitment, setting goals, performance evaluations, career development, acquiring resources, generating training plans, and fostering a positive work environment. The technical assignment will be on an SDS project within the Sentinel Program, focusing on Advanced Concepts, Enablers, & IFC. Requires a STEM Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience or Master's with 6+ years, a Secret clearance, and experience with systems engineering development lifecycle, Agile, and tools like Cameo or DOORS.

What you'd actually do

  1. Responsible for assessing staffing needs, current as well as projected and working with the respective team leads to address those needs.
  2. Responsible for supporting recruitment activities including the creation of requisitions, conducting interviews, and approving offers.
  3. Work with program leaders in establishing personal, program, and functional goals as well as performing performance evaluations and merit adjustments for subordinates.
  4. Provide their subordinates with career development recommendations, mentoring, discipline, as necessary.
  5. Acquire the necessary computers, equipment and tools to enable their subordinates to perform their work.

Skills

Required

  • STEM Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience or Master's with 6+ years
  • US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret clearance with an in-scope investigation date within the last 6 years
  • Ability to obtain Special Program Access
  • 3+ years’ experience with phases of the systems engineering development life cycle
  • Experience with Agile development and Atlassian Products such as JIRA, Confluence, etc.
  • Experience in a R&D and/or rapid development environment
  • Technical experience executing one or more of the following SE activities: System Architecture in Model-Based Systems Engineering tools (Cameo), Requirements Management in DOORS, Verification Planning, Interface definition and planning
