Figure AI is seeking a Service Tooling Engineer to design, prototype, and deliver tooling and equipment for servicing, transporting, operating, and maintaining their humanoid robots in the field. This role requires mechanical engineering expertise, CAD proficiency, and hands-on problem-solving to create durable solutions for field teams.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design tooling, fixtures, and equipment in 3D CAD that satisfy load conditions, ergonomic requirements, and durability needs for field use
  2. Build and test prototypes to validate design - including fit, function, and ease of use by non-engineers
  3. Generate accurate 2D drawings using GD&T per ASME Y14.5 for internal fabrication or external vendors
  4. Work with internal machine shops, fabrication teams, or external contractors to source and manufacture tooling
  5. Partner with Service and Commercial Operations teams to understand requirements and iterate on designs

  • Ability to write and maintain clean documentation for design processes
  • Strong communication skills - able to translate field team needs into engineering requirements
  • Hands-on, pragmatic approach to problem solving

Nice to have

  • Experience designing service tooling, ground support equipment, or maintenance fixtures
  • Background in automotive, aerospace, or heavy equipment service environments
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers or fabrication shops
