Silicon Design Engineer (1 Year Contract)

AMD AMD · Semiconductors · MARKHAM, Canada · Engineering

This role is for a Silicon Design Engineer on a 1-year contract at AMD, focusing on Design-for-Test (DFT) and Design-for-Debug (DFD) features for complex SOC ASIC designs. The engineer will implement automated design flows, develop scripts (Perl, Python, TCL), and monitor CAD/IP regression results. A key responsibility includes developing in-house automation, utilities, and AI/ML applications. While AI/ML is mentioned as a development area, the core of the role is in silicon design and DFT/DFD, not AI model development.

What you'd actually do

  1. Understand Design-for-Test (DFT) architecture
  2. Implement and deploy automated design flows to implement DFT features in a complex SOC ASIC design or IP subsystem
  3. Setup and execute design checks using both industry standard and in-house tools
  4. Deliver Perl, python, TCL scripts that provide scalable solutions key to DFT implementation
  5. Monitor CAD and/or IP regression results, debug failures and analyze coverage
  6. Develop in-house automation, utilities, intranet web portal, AI/ML applications
