Smts Systems Design Engineer

AMD AMD · Semiconductors · Austin, TX · Engineering

This role is for a Systems Design Engineer at AMD, focusing on the research, design, development, and testing of electronic components and systems for semiconductor manufacturing. The responsibilities include pre-silicon readiness and post-silicon validation, identifying and root-causing failures, collaborating on HW/SW tools for validation, developing post-silicon validation infrastructure, and leading ASIC development processes. The role requires experience with PCBA board buildup, server architecture, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and computer architecture for FPGA design. While the company mentions AI and data centers, the core responsibilities are in hardware design and validation, not AI/ML model development.

What you'd actually do

  1. Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing knowledge of electronic theory.
  2. Develop pre-silicon readiness and post-silicon plan to validate specific IP Systems.
  3. Identify and root-cause failures found in SoC validation and Characterization.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional team in developing HW/SW tools to be proactively improve post-silicon validation test strategy, methodology and process.
  5. Develop post-silicon validation infrastructure (software, hardware, automation, and lab setup).
