Smts Systems Design Engineer

AMD AMD · Semiconductors · San Jose, CA · Engineering

This role is for a Systems Design Engineer at AMD, focusing on the research, design, development, and testing of electronic components and systems for semiconductor manufacturing. The engineer will define technical platforms, system specifications, and prototypes, analyze and resolve system design weaknesses, and contribute to the architecture of future products. Responsibilities include evaluating process flows from design to synthesis, place and route, and power usage, exercising independent judgment, and applying engineering principles to product design and testing. The role requires expertise in data and control plane architectures, packet forwarding mechanisms, security protocols, offload with accelerators, virtualization/container environments, Linux system programming, and TCP/IP.

What you'd actually do

  1. Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing knowledge of electronic theory.
  2. Design a complete and complex framework, system or product.
  3. Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility.
  4. Identify, analyze and resolve system design weaknesses.
  5. Evaluate all aspects of the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use.
