Soc Silicon Design Engineer

This role is for a SOC Silicon Design Engineer at AMD, focusing on developing and designing custom silicon for various platforms including AI and data centers. The engineer will work on defining architectures, contributing to product and micro-architecture specifications, and analyzing performance and power trade-offs from concept to production. The role involves collaboration with global teams, problem-solving, and presenting findings.

What you'd actually do

  1. Support pathfinding activities to influence and define next-generation architecture
  2. Analyze design tradeoffs in terms of performance, power and area impact
  3. Analyze and compile competitive analysis data
  4. Collaborate with architecture leads to translate product requirements into detailed specifications
  5. Work with AMD’s Engineering teams and IP teams to ensure architectural alignment of features and clean interoperability and integration

  • Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science

Nice to have

  • Solid understanding of SoC construction including fabric connectivity, memory systems, power delivery, clock distribution, floor planning, and packaging
  • Skills in scripting, data analysis, experience with EDA tools, VLSI design flow and CMOS technology
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to approach novel problems from multiple perspectives and at varying levels of abstraction
  • Ability to analyze and understand sophisticated workflows and processes, and develop innovative ways in streamlining and automating
  • Proven ability to translate complex technical details into clear, concise, and well-structured documentation
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Perl, TCL, Python)
