OpenAI is seeking a Social Marketing Manager for Japan to lead their social media presence across consumer and business audiences. This role involves strategy development, hands-on execution, content creation, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure OpenAI's work resonates culturally and effectively in the Japanese market. The position requires a deep understanding of social marketing, the Japanese digital landscape, and the ability to act as both a strategist and an operator.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead the development and execution of Japan’s social marketing strategy across priority platforms (e.g., X, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn), covering both consumer and business audiences.
  2. Operate as a hands-on social lead, managing day-to-day publishing, editorial planning, copywriting, and rapid response—especially around launches and key moments.
  3. Set up and scale social channels and systems from the ground up where needed, establishing strong foundations for long-term growth.
  4. Translate global priorities, product launches, and brand narratives into locally resonant social storytelling that reflects Japan’s cultural context.
  5. Lead high-visibility moments including product announcements, research updates, and company news—ensuring accuracy, quality, and alignment across teams.
