Software Development Engineer II role focused on building consumer-facing AI-powered applications (Alexa devices) that integrate voice and multi-modal services. The role involves leveraging Gen AI tools throughout the SDLC and driving engineering best practices. While the role uses AI tools and integrates AI services, it is not primarily focused on building core AI models or research.

What you'd actually do

  1. Invent new experiences for our customers.
  2. Collaborate with UX and Product owners to define customer experience and product direction.
  3. Deliver high quality software through working in a dynamic, team-focused Agile/Scrum environment.
  4. Building software that enables integration of Alexa voice and multi-modal services into compelling applications that run on millions of Echo family devices, and Alexa-enabled Devices.
  5. Driving engineering best practices (e.g., Operational Excellence, Security, Quality, etc.) and setting high standards by taking proactive measures to fix deficiencies and make continous improvement of end product.

Skills

Required

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

Nice to have

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Knowledge of Python and/or C++ programming
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning and LLM fundamentals, including transformer architecture, training/inference lifecycles, and optimization techniques
