Software Development Engineer II - Amazon Robotics, Proteus Amr, Motion

Amazon Amazon · Big Tech · North Reading, MA · Software Development

Software Development Engineer II role focused on task planning, motion planning, control, and navigation for Amazon's autonomous mobile robots (Proteus AMR). The role involves developing and evolving production robotics systems, integrating ML/AI models, and ensuring scalability and reliability for robots operating in fulfillment centers worldwide. It requires experience in C++, TypeScript, and robotics frameworks, with a focus on shipping AI-driven robotics products.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design, develop, and deploy software for task planning, motion planning, and control systems for autonomous mobile robots
  2. Build scalable, generalizable, and highly reliable systems with comprehensive metrics monitoring and regression alarming
  3. Support production robotics systems deployed across Amazon's fulfillment network, troubleshooting issues and implementing improvements
  4. Develop generalizations that enable autonomous navigation capabilities to scale to new environments and use cases
  5. Collaborate with Applied Scientists to integrate machine learning models into production motion planning and control systems

Skills

Required

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

Nice to have

  • Experience with C++ or TypeScript in production environments
  • Experience with robotics frameworks such as ROS or ROS2
