Software Development Manager to lead a team building AI-powered customer experiences and backend systems for Amazon's Alexa personal assistant. The role involves leading engineers, championing generative AI adoption, ensuring engineering excellence, and partnering cross-functionally to deliver innovative AI-driven features.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead and inspire a team of software engineers responsible for developing, maintaining, and operating software systems at scale, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  2. Champion the adoption of generative AI technologies to drive productivity gains, accelerate time to market, and position the team at the forefront of innovation.
  3. Advocate for engineering and operational excellence by setting high standards for code quality, reliability, system performance, and on-call practices.
  4. Establish and maintain a consistent project management framework and development processes that enable rapid, iterative delivery of high-quality software.
  5. Define and communicate a clear team vision, charter, and roadmap that aligns engineering priorities with organizational goals and contributes to annual planning cycles.

Skills

Required

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

Nice to have
