Software Development Manager for AWS SageMaker Unified Studio, an AI-assisted development environment for Data Engineers, Data Scientists, SQL Analysts, and IT Administrators. The role involves leading a software development team to design, implement, test, and deploy innovative solutions at the intersection of Big Data, analytics, warehousing, and machine learning, while mentoring engineers and influencing technical strategy.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead and grow a software development team responsible for rethinking traditional data warehousing, analytics, and database architectures
  2. Manage the design, implementation, test, and deployment of software
  3. Conceive innovative new solutions for our customers, at the intersection of multiple fields: Big Data, analytics, warehousing, and machine learning.
  4. Mentor senior engineers and managers, provide leadership on complex technical issues, design tradeoffs, and feature and schedule prioritization
  5. Work with senior executives to develop business targets and resource requirements, and influence our technical and business strategy

Skills

Required

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 7+ years of engineering experience
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Nice to have

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
