Software Development Manager for Amazon's Merch on Demand business, leading a team responsible for the Merch Portal and Kit Your Team programs. What you'd actually do

  1. Build, hire, and develop a team of software development engineers while maintaining a high bar for quality and engineering excellence
  2. Own the technical vision and roadmap for the Merch Portal, Kit Your Team, Team Store, and Operational Portal
  3. Drive Kit Your Team's expansion into Team store through partner integrations, school/league hub architecture, and AI-powered store creation
  4. Operate the Merch Portal at scale with high availability and operational rigor
  5. Partner with the Merch Customizable Experience team to consume Modify services, aligning on API contracts and prioritization for cross-team requests

Skills

Required

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 7+ years of engineering experience
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams
  • Bachelor's degree

Nice to have

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
  • Usage of generative AI tools to enhance workflow efficiency, with a willingness to learn effective prompting and evaluation practices
  • Ability to recognize opportunities where generative AI could enhance products, workflows, or customer experiences
