Netflix is seeking a Software Engineer 5 for their Ads Engineering team to build and enhance their in-house ad tech ecosystem. This role involves developing advanced technology for ad serving, audience management, measurement, and finance, ensuring exceptional experiences for members and advertisers. The engineer will set technical directions, make architectural decisions, and influence cross-functional teams within a rapidly growing Connected TV advertising space.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop and launch highly scalable, reliable, and performant systems that power the Netflix advertising business.
  2. Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to define and deliver innovative advertising solutions.
  3. Drive technical strategy and architecture for key areas within Ads Engineering, ensuring alignment with overall company goals.
  4. Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
  5. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in a production environment.

Skills

Required

  • Well grounded domain experience in any of the following areas: Ad Serving, Ads Identity & Audiences, Ads Creatives, Inventory & Forecasting, Campaign Management, Media Planning, Measurement, Reporting, or Ads Finance.
  • General understanding of the advertising marketplace and landscape.
  • Developed many cloud based applications and comfortable with modern programming languages (preferably object oriented)
  • Familiar with A/B testing and experimentation.
  • Have solid experience in setting technical directions for engineering projects, making architectural decisions, and influencing partner and cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

  • Contributed to an ads industry technology standard (e.g VAST, OpenRTB) or worked on an industry consortium effort, working group etc.
  • Familiarity with legal compliance and changing landscape of ads regulations around the world.
  • Experience working in the CTV space and knowledge of it’s unique constraints
