Software Engineer on the Buyer Growth team responsible for driving Whatnot's top-of-funnel growth and first-time buyer success. Focuses on acquisition, activation, and early retention, partnering with product, data, and marketing to build experiences that bring new users into the ecosystem and turn them into loyal customers. Will lead and scale growth initiatives, design and own end-to-end systems, work across teams to identify growth opportunities, and instrument/monitor/improve funnels.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead and scale critical growth initiatives such as onboarding flows, referral systems, guest browsing, notification systems
  2. Design and own end-end systems, from backend services to frontend experiences, that impact millions of users. Drive architectural decisions to ensure systems are reliable, scalable, and extensible as we scale rapidly.
  3. Work across product, marketing, and data science to identify high-leverage growth opportunities and rapidly iterate on experiments.
  4. Instrument, monitor, and improve funnels to drive measurable lifts in new user conversion and retention.
  5. Mentor other engineers and contribute to raising the bar for engineering excellence across the team.
