Software Engineer, Engineering Acceleration | Consumer Devices

OpenAI OpenAI · AI Frontier · San Francisco, CA · Consumer Products

Software Engineer focused on building and improving CI/CD systems, developer workflows, and internal platform capabilities to enhance engineering velocity, reduce toil, and increase software quality for consumer devices and cloud services. The role involves designing and operating robust CI/CD pipelines, making pragmatic architectural decisions, and utilizing AI-native tooling to improve engineering workflows and output quality. Experience with secure software delivery practices and adapting technical decisions to organizational maturity is required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design, build, and operate CI/CD systems and software delivery pipelines for software that runs both on device and in the cloud.
  2. Lead the design and architecture of internal platform capabilities across build, test, deployment, workflow automation, and developer tooling.
  3. Make hands-on technical decisions about platform design, abstraction boundaries, and system tradeoffs based on the team’s current stage, scale, and operational needs.
  4. Improve developer productivity by shortening feedback loops across build, test, debugging, environment setup, and release-adjacent workflows.
  5. Build self-serve paved-road workflows that reduce manual effort and make common engineering tasks fast, reliable, and easy to adopt.
