Software Engineer for the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapon Systems (GWS) program, focusing on technical review and execution support. Responsibilities include all phases of planning, coordination, tracking, and execution of milestone reviews and key events, working closely with Build Leads to analyze software product delivery. The role involves active participation in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, reviews, design discussions, and requirements gathering.

What you'd actually do

  1. involved in all phases of planning, coordination, tracking and execution of milestone reviews and key events as part of the GWS Execution Team’s Technical Review and Execution Support group.
  2. works closely with Build Leads, reviewing artifacts and providing clear, practical analysis that helps ensure the program’s software products are delivered successfully.
  3. participates actively in Agile ceremonies, contributing to sprint planning and reviews.
  4. may engage in design discussions and requirements‑gathering activities based on project demands.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s of Science Degree from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 0 years of related experience (Level 2)
  • Bachelor’s of Science Degree from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 3 years of related experience, or 1 year of related experience with a PhD (Level 3)
  • Experience with components of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) - software design requirements, application development, integration, testing, or deployment.
  • Experience with requirements decomposition and requirements management.
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development using tools like Jira, Confluence, Fisheye/Crucible, and Bitbucket.
  • strong communication and organizational skills.
  • ability to think critically and capture concepts in work products, presentations, and discussions.
  • Capable of working both independently and within a team environment.
  • current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time to support business needs.
  • Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment full-time.

Nice to have

  • Experience planning, coordinating and executing milestone and key event reviews.
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum leadership roles such as Scrum Master or Product Owner.
  • Demonstrated independent planning, organization, and working in cross-functional teams with a customer focus.
  • GMD domain knowledge.
