Description
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and supporting internal applications that help Apple Hardware Engineers design the best products in the world. You will focus on creating scalable software solutions, workflow automation, and web-based tools that empower Apple's engineering teams. This is a full-stack development opportunity with an emphasis on building robust web applications, data pipelines, and APIs.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain web applications, MCP (Model Context Protocol) services, and APIs that fuel AI-enabled applications and engineering tools. Collaborate with hardware and software teams to create secure, scalable interfaces connecting data pipelines, simulation environments, and machine learning services. Work with partners to define requirements, build proof-of-concepts, implement new features, and maintain production systems. Lead design discussions, set technical direction within project areas, and ensure solutions are both scalable and maintainable. Contribute throughout the full software lifecycle—from design and implementation to testing, deployment, and continuous improvement—using agile development and modern CI/CD practices.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent. 4 years of experience developing software applications, particularly in JVM languages. 4 years of experience gathering and defining software requirements and have consistently demonstrated success delivering complex software as an individual contributor within cross-functional teams. Developed multi-tier web applications using modern frameworks, Spring or Java EE technologies, and RESTful services. You thrive in hands-on development and are adept at tackling complex engineering problems.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with hardware engineering concepts as well as experience building and maintaining APIs and micro-services at scale. Experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol) architectures, or similar AI tool integration patterns, will be highly valuable. You are comfortable leading technical efforts with strong proficiency in Linux environments, JVM containers, and nginx. Familiarity with Grails, Spring, or other related frameworks—as well as client-facing web applications and UX frameworks such as React or Angular—is beneficial. Strong system design, integration, and deployment experience in large, coordinated environments, proficiency with both relational and NoSQL databases, and a proven ability to provide technical leadership across multiple projects or domains. Your interpersonal and communication skills enable you to collaborate effectively across both technical and business audiences.
