Software Engineer - Hardware Engineering Operations

Apple Apple · Big Tech · Austin, TX · Hardware

Software Engineer role focused on developing internal applications, frameworks, and services that enhance the engineering lifecycle at Apple. The role involves building scalable software solutions, workflow automation, and web-based tools, with an emphasis on full-stack development, data pipelines, and APIs. While AI is mentioned as a component of the applications, the core craft of the role is software engineering for internal tools, not direct AI/ML model development or research.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design, implement, and maintain web applications, MCP (Model Context Protocol) services, and APIs that fuel AI-enabled applications and engineering tools.
  2. Collaborate with hardware and software teams to create secure, scalable interfaces connecting data pipelines, simulation environments, and machine learning services.
  3. Work with partners to define requirements, build proof-of-concepts, implement new features, and maintain production systems.
  4. Lead design discussions, set technical direction within project areas, and ensure solutions are both scalable and maintainable.
  5. Contribute throughout the full software lifecycle—from design and implementation to testing, deployment, and continuous improvement—using agile development and modern CI/CD practices.
