This role is for a Software Engineer II on the AI/ML team within Google Security Operations. The engineer will focus on bridging gaps in Google's security tooling and implementing managed defense features within SOAR case management. Responsibilities include writing product/system development code, collaborating with peers, triaging and debugging issues, applying foundational ML concepts, and designing/developing high-quality code for security products and systems. The role requires experience with software development, data structures, algorithms, core ML concepts, and full-stack development.

What you'd actually do

  1. Apply foundational ML concepts and contribute to the implementation of solutions in one or more specialized ML areas.
  2. Design, develop, and deliver high-quality code for security products and systems.
  3. Write product or system development code.
  4. Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
  5. Collaborate with peers and stakeholders through design and code reviews to ensure best practices amongst available technologies (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • 1 year of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • 1 year of experience implementing core ML concepts.
  • Experience in full-stack software development, designing and implementing both front-end user interfaces and back-end application services.

Nice to have

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
