Software Engineer II role focused on Access Management within Uber's Core Security Engineering. The role involves designing and implementing AI/ML based solutions for security primitives and products, enhancing security, scalability, and developer experience. Responsibilities include designing and implementing core services, driving SDLC excellence, automation, operational ownership, and documentation. Preferred qualifications include knowledge of cybersecurity and experience with AI/ML technologies in production systems.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design and Implement Core Services: Design, develop, and maintain highly available, fault-tolerant services that handle core Access Management functions.
  2. Drive SDLC Excellence: Champion and apply best practices throughout the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). This includes enforcing rigorous coding standards, performing high-quality code reviews, and ensuring optimal build and testing processes.
  3. Automation and Efficiency: Develop new tooling, scripts, and automation workflows to improve the efficiency of our access granting processes and reduce manual operational toil.
  4. Operational Ownership: Take ownership of the operational health of production systems, including monitoring, alerting, debugging, and performing root cause analysis on access-related incidents in a timely manner.
  5. Documentation and Guidance: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, acting as a subject matter expert to provide guidance and consultation to engineering teams on Access Management best practices and platform usage.
