About the team
The Big Data team within Global Tech Platform (GTP) at Walmart designs, builds, and operates large-scale data processing and analytics platforms that drive the company’s data-centric strategies. We enable a unified environment for developing data products, ML/Ops, and AI/Ops, unlocking actionable insights from Walmart’s vast datasets across multiple cloud platforms.

**What You’ll Do **
- Own end-to-end delivery of features, from ideation and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
- Architect, design, and implement robust, scalable backend systems that manage product data at a global scale.
- Collaborate closely with team leads, architects, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver solutions that are reliable, performant, and aligned with business goals.
- Drive technical excellence through code reviews, design discussions, and mentorship, raising the bar for engineering quality and best practices.
- Analyze and optimize system performance, proactively identifying bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement.
- Drive root cause analysis including identifying issue patterns and working with multiple teams and vendors to address them.
- Providing technical assistance to a broad community of big data users, such as software application engineers and data scientists.
**What You’ll bring **
- Bachelors degree in computer science or related discipline with 3 to 5 years of core software product development experience.
- Strong computer science fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, databases, operating systems, etc.
- Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language (such as Java, Python, or Go).
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and distributed microservices.
- Experience working on Big Data TechnologIES like Spark, Airflow, Hive Metastore etc
- Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design principles.
- Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
- Expertise in Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Agentic AI, and designing scalable systems to deliver impactful solutions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team.
- Passion for building resilient, scalable, and maintainable platforms that drive business success.
