The Governance Engineering team is responsible for developing new features to enable customers to manage high-value content in Box with automated content lifecycle tools that reduce compliance, privacy, and litigation risk. Our goal is to build a powerful best-of-breed cloud stack with a single content management layer. That way, our customers can connect the content flow across their favorite business apps. We are a fast-paced and high impact team that is helping Box and our customers build world-class enterprise compliance solutions. WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Develop new backend features focused on high scale and performance.
- Design and implement auto-scaling solutions for microservices.
- Solve challenges related to distributed systems at scale.
- Measure system performance; identify bottlenecks; optimize accordingly.
- Build internal tools supporting testing automation, deployment pipelines & product support.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across geographies (Poland & USA).
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups and sprint planning.
- Contribute code reviews ensuring quality standards are met consistently.
- Participate in our on-call rotation, available at all times while on-call to help respond to and triage any issues that arise.
WHO YOU ARE:
- You have **3+ years **of professional **software development **experience.
- Proficient in Java; familiarity with other scripting languages like Python, Scala or PHP is a plus.
- Comfortable working with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
- Knowledgeable about container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB preferred but not required.
- Strong communicator who meets deadlines reliably while collaborating effectively within teams.
- Passionate about learning new technologies & applying them pragmatically in production environments.
- Fluent English speaker capable of working seamlessly across international teams.
