Google is seeking an engineer to work on infrastructure for AI-powered Workspace products, focusing on developing and enhancing software solutions that will shape the future of productivity tools. The role involves managing project priorities, designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining software, with a focus on large-scale infrastructure and distributed systems, and collaborating with AI model builders.

What you'd actually do

  1. Write product or system development code.
  2. Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  3. Review code developed by other developers and feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  4. Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  5. Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in software development of tools and infrastructure, framework, and test.
  • 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or machine learning, or experience with compute technologies, or hardware architecture.
  • 2 years of programming experience in Java.

Nice to have

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 2 years of experience with performance, large-scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms in either an academic or industry setting.
  • Experience in compute infrastructure.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
  • Proficiency in code and system health, diagnosis and resolution, and software test engineering.
