This role requires a blend of technical expertise in embedded systems and the leadership skills to manage complex Hardware/Software (HW/SW) co-design projects in a fast-paced environment.
As an Engineering Manager, you will lead the Debug/Trace/Analytics (DTA) Tools team in Taipei. You will manage a group of engineers dedicated to building the next generation of debug and analytics tools for Google's custom silicon (e.g., tensor) providing a comprehensive suite of host-side profiling tools that utilize the latest hardware and software capabilities to enhance internal team productivity.Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Responsibilities
- Manage a team around engineers in the development of software tools and scripts to diagnose, profile, and analyze system issues of Google custom silicon.
- Guide the team in presenting complex analytics through both Command-line Interface (CLI) and Graphical User Interface (GUI) interfaces, while correlating data from microcontrollers and power/performance measurements, and direct the application of GenAI to pinpoint root causes of silicon issues and boot team productivity.
- Lead design reviews with stakeholders and peers to decide on core technologies including software and hardware for Direct Test Architecture (DTA) related areas.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Google teams to build exceptional APIs, tools, and user interfaces.
- Oversee work with early hardware prototypes, FPGAs, and SW-simulations of SoC designs to verify and enable critical functionality.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development, with experience in building and scaling internal/external tools within a engineering organization.
- 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
- 3 years of experience working in a complex organization.
- Experience developing tools on ARM CoreSight architecture, commercial JTAG debug solutions, and GDB protocols.
- Technical background in embedded systems, debugging, or profiling at the hardware/software interface.
- Ability to apply GenAI to daily development follow and tools.
