Our team is part of Local Ads and is responsible for showing ads on map searches and search suggestions on the Google Maps mobile app and desktop website. We are a full stack team responsible for backend ads serving and quality, as well as client side rendering. Our team's mission is to serve good quality ads on maps without hampering user happiness while improving advertiser satisfaction and Google business.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Write and test product or system development code.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain serving of Maps Search and Suggest Ads.
- Analyze experiment results and identify opportunities for improvements in ad quality, user happiness, and business.
- Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
- Develop and launch new and innovative ad formats on Google Maps.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with software development in Java or C++.
- 2 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- 1 year of experience building and deploying information retrieval or recommendation systems (e.g., retrieval, prediction, ranking, personalization) in production.
- Experience with front-end or full-stack development.
