Northrop Grumman is seeking a Software Engineering Manager 2 to lead engineering teams in software development, system integration, and program execution. The role involves technical planning, verification, validation, and mentoring engineers. Requires a STEM degree with significant experience in software development and leadership, including Agile methodologies. Active Secret clearance is mandatory.

What you'd actually do

  1. New business acquisition, proposal, and special projects support
  2. Support Functional Engineering initiatives
  3. Assist with staff workload forecast preparation
  4. Identifying and implementing new or improved tools and processes to increase team efficiency
  5. Acquire the necessary computers, equipment, and tools to enable the team to accomplish their assigned job

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM field AND 9 years of related professional/military experience including software development, OR Master’s degree in STEM field AND 7 years of related professional/military experience OR PhD in STEM field and 4 years of experience including software development
  • Prior experience in a leadership capacity using agile development
  • Experience with the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Experience with Agile software development, object-oriented architecture and programming, software integration and testing
  • Experience with at least two of the following programming or scripting languages: Java, Python, Go, C++, C#, PowerShell, VBScript, Bash, or KornShell
  • Experience with Cloud technologies and service providers
  • Active in-Scope, U.S. Government Secret clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Program Access (SAP/PAR)

Nice to have

  • Current approved PAR to applicable program
  • An advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other STEM discipline
  • Advanced technical management degree
  • Prior experience in engineering functional management
  • Proven leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience leading a team of 5-12 employees with a record of on-time performance
  • Previous experience in developing proposal inputs (task descriptions and basis of estimate)
  • Time management and organizational skills to prioritize across concurrent program and functional responsibilities
  • Prior experience with cost account management and task/resource planning
