Software Engineering Manager 2 responsible for cost accounts and leading a functional homeroom team. Duties include managing the full cost account lifecycle (EAC, risks, change board packages, rolling waves, leadership presentations) and functional homeroom responsibilities (staffing, mentoring, training). Requires experience in software development, Agile, SDLC, and cost account management. Security clearance required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Managing EAC workbooks, cost health checks, variances and other monthly CAM activities.
  2. New business acquisition, proposal, and special projects support
  3. Support Functional Engineering initiatives
  4. Assist with staff workload forecast preparation
  5. Acquire the necessary computers, equipment, and tools to enable the team to accomplish their assigned job

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field AND 9 years of related professional/military experience that includes a background in software development, OR a Master’s degree AND 7 years of related professional/military experience that includes a background in software development.
  • Prior experience in a leadership capacity using agile development, including participating as Product Owner, SCRUM Master, and/or team member in an Agile development environment.
  • Experience with the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Experience with Agile software development, object-oriented architecture and programming, software integration and testing.
  • Experience with at least two of the following programming or scripting languages: Java, Python, C++, C.
  • Experience with Excel spreadsheet macros
  • Prior experience with cost account management.
  • Active in-Scope, U.S Government Secret clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Program Access (SAP/PAR).

Nice to have

  • Current approved PAR to applicable program
  • An advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other STEM discipline.
  • Advanced technical management degree.
  • Prior experience in engineering functional management is a plus.
  • Proven leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience leading a team of 5-12 employees with a record of on-time performance
  • Previous experience in developing proposal inputs (task descriptions and basis of estimate)
  • Time management and organizational skills to prioritize across concurrent program and functional responsibilities.
  • EVM Certified
