What you'd actually do

  1. Lead and empower eight Software Engineers to deliver high-quality, scalable, resilient data solutions at pace.
  2. Mentor engineers for personal and technical growth, driving a material positive impact on their careers and business influence.
  3. Provide strong technical leadership, maintain a high engineering bar, manage technical risks, and influence architectural direction.
  4. Own deliveries and ways of working, partnering with Product and Change Delivery to shape the roadmap and ensure timely delivery of valuable data products in a complex regulatory environment.
  5. Encourage innovation, advocate for effective use of AI developer tooling - leading by example - and adhering to modern software development patterns and best practices.

Skills

Required

  • Experience with data platform and ETL/orchestration technologies such as Apache Airflow, Spark, AWS Glue, and Snowflake.
  • Proficiency in delivering solutions within a major Public Cloud service, such as AWS.
  • Experience operating within an Agile environment (e.g. Scrum) in a complex, regulated industry like Financial Services.
  • Strong sense of ownership
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Positive, proactive bias for action balanced with self-reflection.

Nice to have

  • Experience with (or more specifically strong advocacy for) AI developer tooling such as: Claude Code, Copilot, Windsurf, and Gemini
