Manage a team of engineers to build and maintain privacy-focused software infrastructure for Google Search, ensuring compliance with user data handling regulations and developing proactive privacy enhancements. The role involves technical leadership, project management, and cross-functional collaboration to mitigate privacy risks and improve user experience.

What you'd actually do

  1. Use the engineering and product knowledge to research, propose, design, and enact improvements for privacy, specifically within infrastructure-level privacy enforcements, offline data monitoring/mitigation for user data handling, and proactive development of privacy enhancements to our products.
  2. Lead cross-functional engagement with technical leads to gather privacy risks, surface gaps, and collaborate with discipline to achieve shared goals. This includes being direct with your point of view and asking critical questions to improve others' work.
  3. Gather industry trends and best practices for privacy data managing and apply these concepts to problems at hand.
  4. Conduct assessments, evaluation, and investigation to identify unexpected user data use, and provide recommendations to mitigate privacy threats for product and user experience improvements.
  5. Lead and mentor a team of growing junior engineers, providing support as needed to unblock or accelerate projects.
