Software Engineering - Senior Manager

Salesforce is seeking a Senior Manager for their Software Engineering team in India. This role focuses on leading engineering efforts for the Tableau Online Cloud Engineering team, specifically on building scalable, secure, and cost-effective CI/CD and secrets platforms. The manager will be responsible for crafting strategic roadmaps, overseeing implementation, designing and automating processes, monitoring system performance, participating in on-call activities, building service architectures, leading SDLC processes, and growing teams through mentoring and recruiting. The role emphasizes servant leadership, team building, mentoring, strong engineering fundamentals, effective communication, product ownership, and project management within an Agile framework. Experience in SaaS or large-scale systems, leading engineering teams, and operational/DevOps environments is required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design, build and automate processes and systems. Breakdown and estimate work, select and incorporate the appropriate tools and frameworks for the job.
  2. Proactively monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement "self-healing" automation where possible.
  3. Participate in on-call activities, identify and respond to issues affecting the service health, collaborate across teams to mitigate them.
  4. Build service architectures, SOLID designs, and components of large systems
  5. Lead and participate in SDLC processes in an Agile team and deal with cross-organizational dependencies.

Skills

Required

  • BS in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of industry experience in SaaS or large-scale systems
  • 3+ years leading teams of 5+ engineers developing/implementing platforms.
  • 3+ years of leading in a highly operational or DevOps team, with on-call culture.

Nice to have

  • Expert in the infrastructure space, with a strong understanding of file server and database.
