Software Quality Engineer at Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) responsible for assuring the required processes are used for developing, controlling, and verifying software products. This role involves defining and maintaining software quality engineering processes, performing audits, supporting program milestones, ensuring test integrity, and working with regulatory agencies and suppliers to ensure compliance and improve software quality.

What you'd actually do

  1. Defines and maintains program-level software quality engineering processes, resources, and infrastructure
  2. Actively participates in program activities, from initial proposal and planning to verification/certification and delivery
  3. Performs process and product audits to verify software lifecycle activities and products comply with approved software processes, plans, and standards
  4. Supports program milestone and formal review meetings, occasionally preparing and presenting information
  5. Participates in configuration management activities

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, and/or Chemistry
  • 3+ years of experience working in a project where various software development methodologies are being utilized
  • 3+ years of experience in a Software Quality role
  • 3+ years of experience working independently to develop, modify and document actions to assure problem resolution and/or to implement corrective action and/or preventive action

Nice to have

  • Experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS) auditing
  • Software Quality Engineering experience supporting software with AS9115, DO-178, and/or MIL-STD-882E requirements
  • Experience with the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) is highly preferred
  • Experience with configuration management and collaboration tools such as (or similar to) Git, Jira, Collaborator, Bitbucket and Beyond Compare
  • Software development experience in a collaborative team environment using agile principles and a structured development process including code reviews and automated DevOps processes/tools
