Northrop Grumman is seeking a Software Safety Engineer (Level 1/2) to join their team in Chandler, AZ. This role focuses on ensuring the safety of complex launch systems by defining, implementing, and verifying safety requirements, analyzing system interactions, and developing safety documentation. The position requires a STEM degree, object-oriented programming experience, and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Interact with key internal and external customers and partners regarding system safety topics.
  2. Work with a team of Software Safety and System Safety engineers in defining, implementing, and verifying System Safety requirements to ensure that the inherent risks are mitigated.
  3. Software Safety Engineers are responsible for understanding the entire mission, including the launch vehicle, payload, ground support equipment, range infrastructure, and range safety interfaces.
  4. Software Safety Engineers are expected to understand how the different components, subsystems, systems, and integrated launch vehicle function and interact, with a focus on Software System Safety.
  5. Apply the systems engineering process to define and verify launch vehicle and ground support equipment requirements to ensure safe operations and conduct system safety analyses to architect and implement a safe and robust system.
