Software Systems Engineers at Boeing are responsible for designing, developing, analyzing, and maintaining software systems requirements for the B-52H Software Sustainment Team. This includes analyzing 1553 bus data, writing analysis reports, and supporting the test team to ensure software meets requirements for use on the B-52H bomber aircraft. The role involves partnering with stakeholders to translate system-level requirements into software requirements and completing system-level analyses to identify risks. Experience with data analysis and/or data mining is required, with preferred experience in C++ code, Link-16 networks, and weapons/radar operations.

What you'd actually do

  1. Designs, develops, analyzes, and maintains software systems requirements that meet industry, customer, and internal quality, safety, security and certification standards
  2. Partners with appropriate stakeholders to inform system definition and translate decompose system-level requirements into software requirements that meet customer, operational, and performance requirements that have clear traceability to design, code and test artifacts
  3. Completes software system-level analyses to identify risks, issues and opportunities; recommends mitigation actions throughout the software lifecycle
  4. Monitors and reviews test completion, verification processes, and issue resolution for software systems, verifies test approaches verify requirements
  5. Develops user documentation and training to educate end users about usage of software products

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience creating and documenting software architecture and designs
  • Experience with data analysis and/or data mining
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance

Nice to have

  • Active United States Government Security Clearance – Secret or higher
  • 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bombers experience (B-1, B-2, B-52)
  • 2+ years of experience collecting, organizing, synthesizing, and analyzing data
  • knowledge of, or experience with C++ code
  • ability to summarize and document findings and produce data analysis reports with fully developed data driven conclusions
  • 2+ years of B-52 military experience or equivalent working with operational Link-16 and weapons data link networks
  • understanding of Link-16 architecture and messages
  • experience with weapons, POD, radio communications, navigation and radar operations
