This role is for a Senior Portfolio Officer in the Special Assets Group at Bank of America, responsible for managing a portfolio of criticized/distressed commercial credit exposures. The role involves developing and executing workout and resolution strategies, managing client communications, monitoring borrower performance, preparing credit documentation, and ensuring compliance with policies and regulations. It requires experience in corporate workout, credit restructuring, syndicated transactions, and strong analytical and communication skills.

What you'd actually do

  1. Support and/or manage a portfolio of high‑risk, criticized, or distressed commercial credit exposures, including complex corporate and syndicated/agented transactions.
  2. Develop and execute workout and resolution strategies tailored to each credit situation (e.g., amendments, restructurizations, forbearance, enforcement, exit planning), including scenario analysis and recovery assessments.
  3. Serve as a primary point of contact (as assigned) for loan related communications with borrowers, sponsors, bank participants, internal partners, and internal/external legal counsel; support negotiations and coordination across multi lender bank groups.
  4. Monitor borrower performance, financial condition, covenant compliance, and collateral position; identify emerging risks, recommend timely risk rating actions, and escalate issues appropriately.
  5. Prepare and/or support credit approval documentation (memos, strategy recommendations, risk assessments, covenant/structure analyses) and present materials to senior leadership/approval forums as needed.
