Join Us and Make an Impact.
We are seeking a Senior / Advanced Technical Product Owner to work on large‑scale operational software platforms used in real‑world physical environments such as buildings and facilities.
The role requires strong understanding of building and operational systems (e.g. HVAC, energy, safety, security, facilities operations) or experience in closely related operational domains, combined with the ability to work hands‑on with engineering teams on complex, distributed software products.
Candidates from adjacent operational or safety‑critical industries are welcome if they can clearly demonstrate how their experience translates to building‑style operational challenges.
This is not a UI‑only, consumer SaaS, or AI‑only role.
Key Responsibilities:
Domain‑Driven Product Ownership
- Own product outcomes for operational systems used in live environments.
- Translate real‑world operational needs into clear, scalable product requirements.
- Ensure solutions reflect on‑site realities, including reliability, safety, and human‑in‑the‑loop operation.
Technical Product Leadership
- Own epics, features, and backlogs for platform‑level capabilities.
- Work as a credible technical peer with engineering teams during discovery, design, and delivery.
- Define functional scope and non‑functional requirements (performance, reliability, scalability).
Platform & Systems Thinking
- Contribute to products built on complex, distributed systems, potentially spanning on‑premise, edge, and cloud environments.
- Understand integration challenges across operational technology (OT) and enterprise IT.
- Make informed trade‑offs between usability, operability, and long‑term maintainability.
Operational Insight & Decision Support
Shape capabilities that improve:
- Event and exception handling
- Situational awareness for operators and technicians
- Operational decision‑making during incidents and abnormal conditions
- Commissioning, maintenance, and recovery workflows
Apply analytics or intelligent techniques pragmatically, ensuring trust, explainability, and measurable operational value.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with engineering, architecture, UX, and commercial stakeholders.
- Communicate complex domain and technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
Key Experience & Capabilities:
Essential
- Experience working on operational, real‑time systems where reliability and correctness matter.
- Strong background in building systems or a closely related operational domain (e.g. industrial automation, energy, utilities, transportation, safety‑critical platforms).
- Proven experience as a Technical Product Owner or Product Manager on complex software products.
- Ability to work confidently with engineering teams on system‑level topics.
Domain Translation Requirement
Candidates without direct buildings experience must be able to clearly demonstrate how their prior domain maps to:
- Event‑driven or exception‑based system behaviour
- Operator or technician workflows
- Safety‑ or reliability‑critical operation
- Physical assets, sensors, and control systems
Desirable
Exposure to analytics or AI‑enabled features in operational environments.
Familiarity with asset models, digital twins, or structured data models.
Experience in regulated or safety‑critical industries.
What Success Looks Like
Product decisions are grounded in real operational needs, not theory.
Engineering teams trust the Product Owner’s technical and domain judgement.
Intelligent features deliver clear operational improvement, not novelty.
Platform capabilities scale across sites, use cases, and environments.
