Sr. Battery Engineer role focused on continuous improvement, supplier management, and root cause analysis for HV battery packs in an automotive manufacturing setting. Requires mechanical/electrical engineering background and experience with product launches and production schedules.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead the analysis and coordination for changes to externally developed modules and battery packs currently in production with the Validation, Reliability, and Supplier Development Engineering teams at Rivian and with the supplier
  2. Collaborate with Rivian Purchasing and Supplier Development Engineering teams to ensure alignment and clear communication to suppliers for externally supplied modules and battery packs
  3. Coordinate with Rivian’s Field Analysis teams to ensure battery related field issues have clear owners at Rivian or the supplier driving root cause analysis and permanent corrective action
  4. Collaborate with the Rivian Manufacturing, Process, and Quality teams to understand battery design related concerns impacting production quality, rate, and yield
  5. Drive technical root cause analysis and mitigation action development to ensure designs concerns identified are permanently resolved.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
  • 3+ years of work experience in Battery/Automotive/Aerospace/related industries
  • Working knowledge of EV HV battery architecture and functionality
  • Previous experience with product launches, production schedules, and release engineering
  • Strong communication, multitasking, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of high voltage safety best practices

Nice to have

  • electronics / controls experience
  • Proficiency using CAN/Ethernet tools for debugging purposes
  • Background with CATIA V6 (3Dx) CAD Design and Enovia
