Senior Engineer for Broadcast IT engineering department during live productions, responsible for incident response, service requests, diagnosing systemic problems, scheduling preventative maintenance, and training. Areas of responsibility include studios, production control rooms, record and playout servers, augmented and virtual reality systems, remote production (REMI), artificial intelligence, and cloud technologies within a state-of-the-art SMPTE 2110 native facility for linear and OTT streaming services. Requires proven leadership, organizational processes, technical depth, and operational knowledge. Flexibility in shift work and on-call rotation is expected. Occasional travel may be required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Senior engineer responsible for technical success of WBD live and taped events. On-site Engineeer-in-Charge for broadcast productions such as CNN’s prime time lineup, Bleacher Reports live productions, Food Network taped productions, as well as any other news, entertainment and sporting events. Is a technology point person for studio and production control room productions. Provides tier 2 support, including: troubleshooting of wiring of studio cameras, set monitors, audio, lighting and ethernet connections on set or in production spaces.
  2. Staff Knowledge Sharing – Provide technical oversight, coach and mentor entry-level staff in regards to technical systems utilized for day-to-day operation and responsibilities. Effectively communicate department directives to staff in a positive and proactive manner. Clearly communicate amongst team and production staff. Documenting equipment inventory, status and workflows.
  3. Customer Service – Work closely with our partners to satisfy thier needs and requests. Serve as liaison between Engineering Leads, staff and customers. Cultivate cooperative relationships between customers and Engineering staff to ensure technical as well as operational readiness. Provide daily reporting related to operational issues and/or Air impacting events.
  4. Executes the development, testing and implementation of new systems, software and equipment. Create and maintain documentation. Follow-up with appropriate parties to ensure resolution. Coordinate with production technology vendors to determine the need for systems repair or upgrade.

Skills

Required

  • 4-year engineering degree or equivalent work experience in Live Broadcast engineering field
  • 5+ Years of live production engineering experience
  • 3+ Years television maintenance experience
  • Strong understanding of SMPTE 2110 Standards
  • Experience in design and implementation of broadcast facility technology

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of Intercom Systems used in production environments
  • Understanding of Evertz Routing Systems and Magnum Control
  • CCNA Certification or Networking background
  • Cloud Technologies
