Sr Director of Infra Engineering-advanced Capability Engineering for Mainframe Midrange Compute Platforms

Senior Director role leading the application of AI, specifically agentic and automation-driven solutions, to transform the management and operation of Mainframe and Midrange Compute platforms within a financial services company. What you'd actually do

  1. Define and own the AI strategy for Mainframe and Midrange systems management, including the identification, prioritization, and governance of advanced capabilities and intelligent automation initiatives.
  2. Build, lead, and scale an Advanced Capabilities Engineering team, bringing together existing innovators and establishing consistent engineering standards, operating models, and delivery discipline.
  3. Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing oversight of agentic AI solutions that automate manual or repetitive infrastructure management tasks while adhering to firmwide risk, security, and control requirements.
  4. Partner with operations, SRE, architecture, risk, and control functions to ensure AI capabilities are implemented safely, transparently, and in alignment with JPMorganChase policies and regulatory expectations.
  5. Establish and manage the roadmap for AI adoption across Mainframe and Midrange platforms, including vendor partnerships, tooling strategy, and internal capability development.

Skills

Required

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise infrastructure environments
  • Advanced experience applying AI and automation to infrastructure operations, including agentic or decision‑driven systems
  • 5+ years of senior leadership experience managing technologists responsible for complex, mission‑critical platforms
  • Demonstrated experience leading large, cross‑functional engineering organizations within infrastructure or platform engineering
  • Proven ability to influence across highly matrixed organizations and deliver outcomes at scale in regulated enterprise environments
  • Experience leading large, complex initiatives spanning infrastructure design, operational resilience, scalability, and system performance
  • Strong background in talent development, including hiring, mentoring, and succession planning
  • Experience owning and managing budgets and strategic investment decisions
