Sr. Director, Public Sector Strategy & Business Development

Salesforce is seeking a Sr. Director, Public Sector Strategy & Business Development in Japan to lead mid-to-long-term business development in the public sector. This role involves building strong relationships with government stakeholders, collaborating with internal teams to drive administrative DX and social issue resolution using AI and cloud technologies, and acting as an evangelist for Salesforce's value proposition, particularly in trusted AI governance. The position also requires feeding back government trends and AI/data utilization guidelines to internal departments and contributing to the creation of large deals.

What you'd actually do

  1. Build strong relationships with stakeholders such as the Japanese government, central ministries, and local governments, and plan/promote mid-to-long-term public business strategies aligned with customer goals.
  2. Collaborate closely with global teams to introduce advanced cases and trends in safe AI utilization in overseas public sectors to Japan, and transplant/optimize effective business processes proven globally to the Japanese market.
  3. Function as an evangelist to clearly communicate Salesforce's value (especially trusted AI governance) to government officials. Also, propose solutions that solve social issues by combining technologies such as AI through participation in external organizations and collaborations, and contribute to the creation of large deals (big deals) and business expansion by leading public-private-academia-industry collaboration.
  4. Provide timely feedback on the latest government trends, policy trends, and AI/data utilization guidelines in administration to internal departments and support business development involving relevant departments.

  • Deep relationships with key persons in government/municipalities such as Digital Agency executives and Diet members promoting digital policy (AI/data utilization policy, etc.)
  • Track record of launching new businesses or leading business development
  • Business-level English proficiency (TOEIC 900 or higher, or 1+ year overseas study/work experience)
  • High communication skills (experience contributing to media or speaking at events/conferences)
