Sr. Electrical Testing Engineer (afternoon Shift)

Rivian is seeking a Sr. Electrical Testing Engineer for their Battery team in Normal, Illinois. This role focuses on developing and supporting end-of-line test processes and equipment for EV battery systems in a manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include test equipment development, commissioning, qualification, integration, developing test procedures, analyzing statistical data, and root cause analysis of electrical issues. The role requires a 4-year technical degree in electrical engineering or a related field, 3+ years of experience with electrical test systems, and knowledge of statistical tools and Six Sigma/Lean principles.

What you'd actually do

  1. Support test equipment development, commissioning, qualification, and integration in the Normal manufacturing battery area.
  2. Develop production level test procedures in collaboration with manufacturing engineering and product engineering
  3. Reviews, interprets, and summarizes end of line statistical data to drive continuous improvement
  4. Investigate electrical issues / failure modes identified at end of line and implement containment solutions by reviewing product design, upstream processes, and testing procedures
  5. Apply technical root cause analysis and resolution of issues found during testing to guide repair technicians and develop best practice rework procedures

Skills

Required

  • Ability to work 2nd/night shift
  • good communication skills
  • 4- year technical degree in electrical engineering, computer science, mechatronics, or an equivalent field
  • 3+ years working with electrical test systems in related field (Automotive preferred)
  • Experience with testing EV battery systems preferred

Nice to have

  • Experience and/or Knowledge of statistical tools, DOEs and Minitab
  • Experience and/or certification in Six Sigma DMAIC (optional), Lean Assembly Principles
  • Working knowledge in Excel, Word, Power point, and Outlook programs
  • Creative problem-solving skills

  • High energy and self-motivated
  • Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma, Lean Six Sigma etc experience is a plus
