This role is for a Sr. Engineering Specialist in Caterpillar's BCP Advanced Tech Group, focusing on identifying, testing, and proof-of-concept for new technologies related to autonomy, operator assist systems, controls, and embedded software. The candidate will provide technical leadership in designing advanced control systems, integrating electrical and mechanical systems, and implementing software/algorithms for electro-mechanical systems. A key aspect is understanding AI's impact on embedded automation software, perception, and planning systems, and staying abreast of regulatory environments for mobile equipment automation.

What you'd actually do

  1. Provides technical leadership in Designing advanced control systems and integrating electrical and mechanical systems
  2. Providing technical leadership in designing and implementing software and algorithms to control and enhance electro-mechanical systems and mechatronic devices
  3. Provide technical direction in identifying and addressing areas of product improvements in line with customer needs
  4. Provide technical leadership in the development of the requirements for electrical components and systems related to automation of machine tasks such as perception and planning systems and the related computational support
  5. Understand the utilization of AI impacting both the development and validation of embedded automation software, subsystems and machine systems
