This role is for a Sr. Global Category Manager focused on electrical control panels and racks within Amazon's Robotic Delivery & Packaging Innovation (RDPI) organization. The position requires a strong technical background in panel manufacturing, regulatory compliance, and electrical systems engineering, with expertise in global supplier management, new supplier introduction, and supplier development. The candidate will engage in Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VAVE) and DFx exercises, provide technical feedback to design groups, and support design decisions. The role involves translating technical specifications into sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships and contracts, driving cost optimization, risk mitigation, and lead-time reduction, and owning supplier performance management. Collaboration with engineering, operations, and program teams is essential.

What you'd actually do

  1. Serve as technical subject matter expert for assigned categories, leveraging engineering background to develop deep understanding of technology, architecture, and manufacturing processes
  2. Translate complex technical specifications into clear sourcing strategies, considering efficiency, availability, scalability, and risks
  3. Define and execute sourcing strategies aligned with product roadmaps and business goals
  4. Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and manage strategic supplier relationships and complex contracts
  5. Drive global initiatives, designing multi-region supply chain for cost optimization, risk mitigation, and lead-time reduction

Skills

Required

  • 6+ years of developing, negotiating and executing business agreements experience
  • Experience developing strategies that influence leadership decisions at the organizational level
  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
  • Experience with technology transformation initiatives
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (ME, EE, CE, SW) or related technical field, or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of experience in supply chain, commodity management, and supplier management in a high-volume, global manufacturing environment
