Sr. High Temperature Alloys Engineer - Onsite

This role focuses on executing projects related to high temperature alloy development, characterization, and production implementation for jet engines. It involves providing engineering expertise to understand material capabilities, collaborating on multi-disciplinary teams, and working autonomously on complex projects. The role serves customers across the enterprise and requires effective communication.

What you'd actually do

  1. Execute defined projects focused on high temperature alloy development, characterization, and production implementation enabling new capabilities on current and future jet engines
  2. Provide engineering judgement and expertise to characterize, quantify, and understand material capabilities of legacy and novel alloys
  3. Projects will span new/repair technology development, engine safety, production support, and cost reduction amongst other business driven needs
  4. Collaborate with internal and external partners on multi-disciplinary teams to identify opportunities and create solutions to support business needs
  5. Work autonomously with limited oversight on projects that are difficult and complex

Skills

Required

  • B.S. degree in Materials Science, Engineering, or Chemistry
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant engineering experience or 3 years with an advanced degree (MS or Ph.D.)
  • US citizenship or US Person/Permanent Resident "Green Card" holder

Nice to have

  • Experience with alloy development, characterization, and processing techniques for high temperature aerospace alloys.
  • Familiarity with computational modeling tools to build and understand processing, structure, property relationships including mechanically and environmentally driven failure modes.
  • Flexibility to adapt to fluid customer requirements, priorities, and schedules and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Self-motivation to help plan and execute required tasks and lead a team to achieve significant goals with little outside direction.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team with strong communication skills
