This role is for a Sr. HSE Engineer at Honeywell, focusing on developing, integrating, and monitoring health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure regulatory compliance and promote continuous improvement. Responsibilities include acting as a technical resource for site safety, implementing processes for compliance, designing systems to prevent injury and environmental damage, working with operations on environmental regulations, serving as a liaison with regulatory agencies, performing environmental sampling, submitting reports, conducting audits, performing incident investigations, assisting with performance improvement using company tools, coordinating training, and managing subcontractor safety.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop, integrate, monitor, and support site Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) programs to ensure compliance with the applicable guidelines, procedures, and regulations.
  2. Incorporate continuous improvement in the deployment of the HSE Management System.
  3. Ensure proactive integration of HSE in business processes and promote employee engagement and participation in the HSE management system.
  4. Acts as the technical resource for site safety, responsible for the deployment of key safety programs including, but not limited to, electrical safety, chemical safety, personal protective equipment, machine guarding and confined space entry.
  5. Implements processes to monitor, track, and ensure compliance with governmental regulations and the HSE requirements of the Corporation.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, engineering, safety, chemistry or an applied science field, or demonstrated equivalent
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in HSE, which includes managing elements of a site safety program and maintaining environmental permit compliance.
  • Self-motivated with strong initiative and bias for action.
  • Uncompromising drive for compliance and willingness to escalate issues as needed.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication and teamwork skills and have the ability to interface with and influence all levels of plant personnel.
  • Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook in a business environment.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) and Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) a plus.
  • Must be highly motivated and energetic with good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lead, work independently, motivate, and influence others at all levels of the organization

  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines at once
