Job Summary:
At PayPal, real-time decisions power customer protection and global commerce. Our Risk Decisioning Platform drives fraud, credit, and compliance decisions, processing massive signal volumes in milliseconds. We're looking for a Lead PM to own the foundation model pillar — a shared ML infrastructure layer generating behavioral embeddings consumed by every downstream risk model across all three risk towers. You'll define training and retraining strategy for transformer-based models processing transaction and behavioral sequences, own the contract between foundation model outputs and downstream consumers, and manage cascading impact when the foundation layer changes. You'll work backwards from measurable outcomes, collaborating with engineering, data science, and risk strategy to prove value through faster downstream model deployment and reduced time-to-market for new threat response.
Job Description:
**Essential Responsibilities: **
- Uses data to build insights on product or platform requirements consistent with the shared vision for the product.
- Gathers insights from the customer experience and customer needs to input to product requirements
- Analyzes research, market analysis and usability studies, research and market analysis to support data-driven decision making
- Monitors product profitability measures, including budget.
- Lead sprint planning, daily standups and retrospectives to drive execution. Interfaces with product and technology leadership as needed.
- Partners with content developers, data scientists, product designers and user experience researchers to identify new opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:
- Owning or co-owning a foundation model, large-scale embedding model, or transformer-based model platform in a production environment
- Experience with model governance in regulated environments
- Experience with data and feature engineering pipelines

Additional Location(s) | Pay Range:
Chicago, Illinois: ($178,500.00 - $265,100.00 Annually) Austin, Texas: ($178,500.00 - $265,100.00 Annually)
Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
